The Original Fog Master (circa 1978)

Don't let all the words scare ya.  You're in the right place for  F O G Party Central
but first you have to put up with the community's verbal abuse.

DISCLAIMER: This year's poem, written very late on a blustery October night in the early AM hours,
(the AM hours: referred to as the darkest, coldest, strangest part of the day according to some, usually those who sleep through it)
really has nothing to do with anything, or does it?
It just kept growing and growing and growing.....  and then... suddenly,
as quickly as it was written.....  it was there....  on-line and thus on screen,
then the sun came up, a new day dawned.....
and it was gone, as quickly as it had appeared.

Another year's gone, what did ya do?
What did I do, what did anyone do?
What could they do, what didn't they do.
my lips are sealed, read on to hear all.....

What did ya accomplish?,
Do ya learn something new?
Did ya climb two steps up,
or slide back in three?

Were ya rushed and stressed and busy all year.
Did ya lose vacation and comp-time hours,
for time not taken?
When asked for accomplishments,
ya can't think of a thing!
Hmm, maybe next year you'll  take that time.

Did ya have any fun?
Did ya sing in the shower?
Did ya cry out in pain?
Did ya help someone laugh?
Did ya make someone cry?

Did you make somewhere better?
Did ya fix something old?
Did piss someone off?
Did ya dance in the rain?
Did you fall in love?
Did you lose someone dear?
Did someone lose you?

Did ya plant a new tree,
a flower or bulb?
Did find your life's niche?
Did ya work too damn much?
Did you celebrate friends?
Did ya run 100 miles?

Did ya think of the environment?
Better yet do something about it?
Did ya think about war...?
Or for peace everywhere.
Did ya worry too much?

Did you climb up a mountain?
or stop at the saddle?
Did ya swim in the river?
Did you fly through the sky?
Did ya save someone's life?
Or did someone save you?

Did ya build your dream house with great expectations?
Did ya upgrade your cube to an office, with no ceiling, but a gaggle of wildlife?
Did ya take two steps forward on your own two feet?
Did ya burn down the man,
or did the man burn you??
Did the white rabbit burn?

Well its time to move on,
to forget about past.
Look up to the future,
cause its all that ya got.

Time to get free. . .  to forget for awhile . . .
all the lost resolutions.
Lame excuses, . . . . .   make...
broken promises, . . . .   take.

Crystalline fears. . .     Icicle tears,
broken chains . . . . unfulfilled dreams. . . .
I hope you are well,
where ever you are.

But its time to refresh,
for a new day is yours.
So jump start your mind,
with a positive grip.

The Fog season's near,
gather ice cubes in hand.
If the ice cream's too hard,
pour in lots of cheap scotch.

Engage the blender's loud roar,
fill the cup to the top,
add a dash of nutmeg
to the frothy white fog.

Fog in the glass, fog in the brain,
Take time for LOVE,
love like a run away train.
Control what ya can,
the rest let go ......     over the dam.

Another years past,
twelve months in the bank,
Did ya do what you wanted?
Well ya better this time!
Life's not a rehearsal,
ya only live once.
